In this entry I am going to talk about a children's picture book called "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see?" an enriching and catchy book illustrated by Eric Carle and written by Bill Marin Jr.
First of all, I think that it's a very appropriate book to use in our classroom because is very colourful, with a picture in each page as a main element. Also, it's very useful because you can make a song with the main story, using all the repetitions of the book. Furthermore, it opens your imagination, because the story shows us animals with a huge variety of colors, not the typical ones. Finally, I think that it's a great story because involves children as a characters of the story.
To use this story with my students of 1st grade (6-7 years old), before reading the book, I will show them the pictures, asking about the animals: Why do you think this cat is purple? . Also, I will take take advantage of the book and I will review the animals and the colors.
Then, while we are reading the book, I will make them questions about what's going to happen next. Finally, children will have to repeat all the sequence of images that they have seen when teacher asks about what they see.
After reading the book, I will play a game like "What do you see?". A child has to think about one object and say only the color. The others have to guess which is the object that their classmate thought.
My language objectives will be related with the review of the colors and the animals. I will teach the WH- questions as well, because it's the newness.

To end up with this entry, I want to referencing another book of Eric Carle that seems very powerful to use in a classroom. It's about friendship value. The teacher can use the sounds of the animals to make the reading activity more enjoyable.
